Golden Coast / Kalamies beach

Pernera Cyprus    Family Friendly Blue flag award

One of the things we try todo as a family is to visit the beach – go figure! I mean we live 10 minutes away by car and we should probably go more as the beaches here are breathtaking but… you know we have to work when the weather is hot! But when we do go, we tend to have our favourite beaches for different reasons. There is a beautiful beach in Pernera called the Golden coast bay. It is also referred to as Kalamies beach after the beautiful restaurant that overlooks the bay. You should visit there too but back to this beach. The beach is actually called Louma beach by the government but isn’t known by that name locally. This beach also has a blue flag award since 2005. It is a sandy beach which is very family-friendly and there are Lifeguards on duty every day from April to October between 09.00- 18.00.

We love this beach because it is generally quieter than the more popular beaches like Fig Tree Bay and for us, that is always a plus with the kids. They have sunbeds/umbrellas available for hire and toilet/shower facilites and we usually grab food at the restaurant or pre-children a drink at the chill-out bar (there is nothing chilled about my son).

The beach is connected to the harbour and has a small traditional blue and white church called St Nicholas. I don’t know why, but there is something I love about blue and white churches – I guess it makes me feel like I am on holiday lol!

Our son checking out the fruit trees – pretty sure he was fairly excited about this. Its amazing how everything is fascinating at this age.

Ohh hello little donkey. The donkeys were super friendly.

Success! Our aim was to tucker him out – mission accomplished!

This is the little traditional house, its all kitted out inside too. We think it is a neat little touch to the place.
